Breaking news: ITN turns to ME Construction

Independent Television News (ITN) is a UK-based news and content provider - comprising three divisions: ITN News, ITN Source and ITN Productions. Based in London, ITN has bureaux and offices in Beijing, Brussels, Jerusalem, Johannesburg, New York, Paris, Sydney and Washington DC.

One of those offices – in the Grays Inn Road, in London – is in the process of being re-fitted by ME Construction. The work, which began in December and is scheduled to finish in March, marks ME Construction’s debut in working for ITN.

ME Construction’s project manager responsible for the work, Peter Dando, said, “The project – designed by Bond Bryan Architects - focuses on renovating the toilet and kitchen areas and installing new comfort partitioning. It also involves providing offices for ITN human resources and finance staff, along with meeting rooms.”

The work not only includes decorating the new toilets, kitchen, offices and meeting rooms but also involves installing new air conditioning and lighting throughout the facilities.

ITN produces content for ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, UK mobile phone operators, online outlets such as YouTube, MSN, Telegraph Media Group, Yahoo!, and film producers and researchers worldwide.

ITV, an integrated producer broadcaster, operating the largest commercial family of channels in the UK, began broadcasting in 1955, initially in the London area - following the Television Act of 1954 which made commercial television in the UK possible. The Broadcasting Act of 1990 paved the way for the consolidation of ITV and, in February 2004, ITV plc, owner of 11 of the 15 regional TV broadcast licences, came into being. Subsequently, ITV has expanded its family of channels with the launch of ITV2 in 1998, ITV3 (2004), ITV4 (2005) and CITV (2006). Today, ITV plc sells advertising on behalf of all 15 of the licences and produces much of the programming broadcast on ITV channels.

In addition to traditional broadcasting on its channels, ITV delivers content on demand through numerous platforms, both directly and via the ITV Hub. Through ITV Studios it produces content for both its own channels and third parties in the UK and, increasingly, overseas. Its distribution business sells finished programmes and formats worldwide.

From ITV’s inception in 1995 until 1999, ITN was the general brand name of ITV's news programmes. Since 1999, ITN is no longer used as the brand name. Nonetheless, the company still produces all ITV News programmes.
