This challenging new build extension project commenced in January 2020 and, despite the lockdown period, ME Construction Ltd succeeded to achieve completion on time in August 2020 ready for the new school term.

The new single storey steel frame and composite timber beam structure provides accommodation for classrooms, WC’s, circulation areas and an associated plantroom.

The external Red Cedar cladding and timber framed windows were specifically selected to be in-keeping with the adjacent building. All M&E Services were included as a CDP and were carefully extended from the existing buildings. Works also included the internal fitout of all areas.

A particular challenge was to maintain clear access to the school buildings and to ensure all construction traffic, operatives and activities were effectively segregated at all times. This was achieved by thorough planning and/or liaison with the school representatives at all times. Even throughout the Lockdown period, the school areas remained open whilst the construction works progressed.
